To get to Estes Park from the Valley, travel either from Lovelend on Highway 34 up Big Thompson Canyon or from Lyons on Highway 36 up St. Vrain Canyon. Both highays come to an intersection (for Highway 34, this intersection is the first stoplight in town ... for Highway 36, it is the second). If you are on Highway 34, turn right at that light. If you are on 36, stay straight. You will now be on the 34 Highway Bypass (as indicated by the red road on the map above), which skirts the busy street of downtown Estes. You'll pass a Safeway store and Stanley Hotel as you curve around the hill and start heading west. You'll travel about 3 miles until you reach 2100 Fall River Road (which is also known as Highway 34). We are 1/2 mile past the 60 mile-marker.
